Artist Statement
I have always felt the notion that art is for everyone. The knowledge you gain from feeling passion, as well as showing passion
about art, a particular artist, art style or medium even though it changes makes you a more well rounded person. I strongly
hold the belief that everyone can learn to draw, paint or sculpt if given the tools and tricks and time to explore and try,
if you never try it will never happen.
Mini Art Bio
I have been an artist all my life. The first large piece of art I drew was a crayon mural on the wall behind my headboard.
My favorite subject is people. I think that everyone is absolutely fascinating, and every person on this earth has something
about them that is absolutely beautiful. The person on the street that some people would consider ugly...isn’t ugly, if you
just look at bit closer they have great hair, hands, a way they stand or walk, its that something deeper that I try to draw
that really shows you who they are from the inside. The same goes for houses, animals and everything else.

I was accepted into the Savannah College of Art and Design at age 12 on the basis of my portfolio. Attended an amazing drawing
class and received a B in the class where some adults failed, the fact that people failed art baffled me and thus ingrained
in me the value that everyone should know the basics.
I graduated from Troy State University in 1990 with a B.S. in Studio Art.
Being a member of the Dale County Council of Arts and Humanities since the inception of the Dowling Mueseum/Ann Rudd Art Center,
showing in all the Juried Shows and Black and White Exhibits has been a pleasure. I have also exhibited in the Humane Society
Fundraiser Tails of the South.
Dothan Wiregrass Art League has provided me opportunities to show in their Local Color Juried Show several times.
The responsibility that comes along with being a portrait artist in creating a “spot on” version of the person enables me to
attend various local festivals and craft shows doing my instant 8 x 10 “Character Portraits”. The reactions of the passers-by
is interesting and children always stop to watch an artist draw from life. I take this responsibility very seriously.
I have pieces located in various private collections.
