Judy Neher Show

A Personal Note from the Artist
Included in this show are paintings from 24 years ago, photographs from the past 5 years to present day, gourd work from the last few years, beaded jewelry from this year and my latest artistic obsession - French beaded flowers. The subject matter of my art hasn't changed much over the years. Many of my paintings, photographs, gourds and beadwork are influenced by objects of nature. When I look at flowers and shells and "found natural objects" I am inspired by the fascinating rhyme and rhythm in their design. As you might guess, American artist, Georgia O'Keeffe has been an artistic influence along with Canadian born/California artist Henrietta Shore and the photographer, Imogene Cunningham. This show includes several geometric and architectural pieces. I present them in "close up" because I am drawn to the basic lines and shadows that appeal to my vision. Charles Sheeler is one of my favorite American 20th Century master photographers. I received my undergraduate degree in Studio Art from Troy State University and a Master of Fine Arts degree with emphasis on painting and photography from Auburn University. |
