The Reception
Gina L. Ready
Gina’s passion for creating art began as soon as she could hold a crayon. Her dad, realizing her strong desire to learn more about the creative process, signed her up for classes the summer of 1988 at Wallace Community College, Dothan, AL. She continued taking private lessons from her teacher, Fran Smith, where she developed a strong technique for realism. Once Gina had progressed in her talent, her mom and dad opened up their home for annual art exhibits to share Gina’s growing talent with friends and family. After graduating from G. W. Long High School in 1994, Gina studied fine art at Wallace Community College under the instruction of Janet Hinton and Rip Ellis. While there, she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, received Awards of Excellence in Art and English (and in 2008 & 2009 in Welding) and further developed her creative spirit. In 1997, Gina attended the University of Montevallo, where her love for and techniques in pottery were fully realized. And in 1999, Gina graduated Summa Cum Laude from Troy State University with a Bachelor of Science in Studio Art. She received the Department of Art and Classics for Scholarship and Artistic Achievement Award. During her time at Troy, Gina developed a love for sculpture and color theory and now strives to make these a cohesive expression of creative imagery. Gina has entered many art shows, juried exhibitions, and art festivals throughout the southeast. Her paintings and sculpture are in many private collections. She enjoys meeting new people and sharing her work with them. She also teaches art classes and private lessons to those interested. Gina is currently working to establish her business, Burnished Oaks Gallery, which is located at her home in Bertha, AL. Gina’s appreciation of nature and her love for God inspire every aspect of her creative process. These influences guide the creative spirit within her when painting, drawing, sculpting, and woodworking. Gina’s ultimate goal is to glorify the Creator with the gifts He has given her. |
